Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by 角美龙泉俱乐部队's 胡远乐. But to his dismay, 胡远乐 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 32nd minute 庞林斌 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 庞林斌, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexander Carballo charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexander Carballo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alan Moruga's late challenge caught a 角美龙泉俱乐部队's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alan Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. When 角美龙泉俱乐部队's 卓林骋 in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
