The supporters of corsaire nantais booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tobias Siggman, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute.
