Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. A hard shot by Rein Viilma from long distance, 14 minutes into the match, got Julio Vera's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hardo Kaar in the 18th minute. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 22nd minute of the match, Andris Lehtmäe got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Elmo Lodev's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elmo Lodev helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Aidu Metskonna Pöörased was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elmo Lodev didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dušan Kinder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Aidu Metskonna Pöörased's Andris Lehtmäe got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Aidu Metskonna Pöörased's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Andris Lehtmäe in the 35th minute. A nice corner shot did that Andris Lehtmäe got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ilmar Kevade was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After a rather tough play, Aidu Metskonna Pöörased's Hardi Nurmik got a free kick in the 74th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hardo Kaar in the 77th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Dušan Kinder made a huge save. Camilo Gisbert charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camilo Gisbert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 88th minute. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Aidu Metskonna Pöörased to leave the ground with a draw.
