With an all-out effort, Sarandí Fútbol Club's Jacobo Nores threw himself towards the right post 7 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Albino Santo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Jaime Pardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Sarandí Fútbol Club's Evaristo Nardo got a free kick in the 13th minute. The supporters of Sarandí Fútbol Club booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Pardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albino Santo in the 19th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santos Urbes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. Rene Estevon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hector Covarrubias went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Albino Santo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 36 minutes into the game, Paraguay's Jaime Pardo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rene Estevon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 39th minute, Jaime Pardo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albino Santo in the 46th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Pardo was the one to do the kick off. When Santos Urbes fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sarandí Fútbol Club's protests and gave Santos Urbes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 52nd match minute, Sarandí Fútbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santos Urbes to maneuver through the defense. Santos Urbes kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. If Benjamin Berbiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sarandí Fútbol Club. Eustaquio Nastasio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Federico Belarmo in the 88th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Federico Belarmo, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
