After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Wit Lampa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. If Wit Lampa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Concetto Rucci who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Concetto De Nardis, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Alvaro Sanna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 26th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Concetto Rucci sent off a good shot on target. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Concetto Rucci went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Concetto Rucci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wit Lampa in the 41st minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Concetto De Nardis to make the kick off. Tomas Illescass short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Alvaro Sanna to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 54 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Concetto Rucci came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 57 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Concetto De Nardis, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. In the 62nd minute Concetto Rucci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 64th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 69th minute, Concetto De Nardis made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Wit Lampa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Camilo Gaos a yellow card for diving instead. Camilo Gaos kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Wit Lampa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
