The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 40 minutes, Edvin Engström mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Garsås IF and the Colombia players grew even worse after the yellow card. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Colombia from getting a goal against them. After 43 played minutes Sven-Erik Ekblom rounded Colombia's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-3. After the first half Colombia were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Colombia eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
