The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Schonebeck was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anselm Hayer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7thth minute of the game Anselm Hayer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lance Malliouris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anselm Hayer in the 20th minute of play. After having played for 22 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 23 minutes into the match, FC Schonebeck's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Lance Malliouris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lance Malliouris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita scored 0-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lance Malliouris, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 37th minute of play forced FC Schonebeck's goalkeeper Lance Malliouris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lance Malliouris quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lance Malliouris was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lance Malliouris saved FC Schonebeck from getting behind. Lance Malliouris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Cristian Sancho heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 44th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lance Malliouris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bengt Persson in the 50th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 52nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave FC Schonebeck a penalty, 53 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Daniel Sokolski, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. 1-1. 60 minutes into the match, Anselm Hayer notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mustafa Ekrem Avşar in the 64th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lance Malliouris having to interfere. FC Schonebeck's Lothar Drinkard was substituted for Anselm Hayer. Lance Malliouris was out of position in the 69 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. In the 71st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bengt Persson in the 73rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Schonebeck's Lance Malliouris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, FC Schonebeck's goalkeeper Lance Malliouris had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Schonebeck's Carmine Anastasi was substituted for Michael Laudrup. When FC Schonebeck's Bengt Persson in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lance Malliouris narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC Schonebeck's Lance Malliouris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 87th minute of play. In the 89th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. FC Schonebeck's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. After 97 played minutes FC Schonebeck got a freekick which was hit by Boris Spengler. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
