Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Edinson Cavani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Perry Swanson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when UE Sant Julià was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Blas Armando didn't get a good kick on the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Edinson Cavani had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edinson Cavani was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 25th minute Perry Swanson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, UE Sant Julià's Johnnie Dobson got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Johnnie Dobson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Perry Swanson managed to get in a good position for a shot. UE Sant Julià's supporters rose to their feet, but Perry Swanson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 38th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnnie Dobson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Perry Swanson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. The Ecuador players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. UE Sant Julià were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Perry Swanson. In the 54th minute, Daniel Zorita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind UE Sant Julià's goalkeeper Johnnie Dobson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute, Primitivo Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Edinson Cavani came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the UE Sant Julià fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edinson Cavani couldn't finish the play. UE Sant Julià's Perry Swanson got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Perry Swanson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Perry Swanson got free with Julio Vera in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Ecuador booed when UE Sant Julià was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calum Sissons didn't get a good kick on the ball. Perry Swanson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. UE Sant Julià were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Ecuador's much stronger midfield.
