In the 23rd minute, Alonso Berganza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luz Tejedor's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dražen Ladić firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 29 minutes Fac. de Ed. Fisica UNT's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. Dražen Ladić made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 39th minute. 39 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dražen Ladić. Julian Murillo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Peru's Alonso Berganza quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Zbigniew Fiszer, made in the 43rd minute of the game. In the 44thth minute of the game Marcelo Cordero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 47th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dražen Ladić saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
