Eliseo Noboa kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 5th match minute, União Desportiva Airão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nivaldo Lameirinhas to maneuver through the defense. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Gualter Moutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to União Desportiva Airão getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Jan Örtendahl hit a great ball. Paulo Maia's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paulo Maia helped the player get up and apologised. Paulo Maia kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 19th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualter Moutinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Aaron Alcocer got a free kick in the 20th minute. Eliseo Noboa's late challenge caught a União Desportiva Airão's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eliseo Noboa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of União Desportiva Airão booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nivaldo Lameirinhas in the 27thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Benito Sanz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Nivaldo Lameirinhas sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nivaldo Lameirinhas took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 37th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Ferrant to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 38 minutes, Nivaldo Lameirinhas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Desportiva Airão's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nivaldo Lameirinhas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Axel Tasis came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Axel Tasis couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. After having played for 56 minutes, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nivaldo Lameirinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Aaron Alcocer fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Aaron Alcocer a yellow card for diving instead. After 64 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. In the 65th minute, Nivaldo Lameirinhas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lautaro Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. The throw-in from Efrain Moruga in the 73rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by União Desportiva Airão's Jan Örtendahl. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Nivaldo Lameirinhas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Maia in the 78th minute of play. Efrain Moruga got a throw-in 87 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Eliseo Noboa. União Desportiva Airão's Nivaldo Lameirinhas got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Efrain Moruga made in the 91st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by União Desportiva Airão's Jan Örtendahl. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nivaldo Lameirinhas in the 92nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. União Desportiva Airão's Gualter Moutinho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save União Desportiva Airão from getting a goal against them.
