When Peru's Julian Murillo in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye ATLETAS FC's goalie prevented a goal. Ronny Engström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute of the match, Lico Tarin got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rolando Noboa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A throw-in in the 26th minute of the game was made by Emmanuel Reyes with Milagros Fraga as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Lico Tarins short, quick shot in the 43rdth minute got Rolando Noboa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The audience was convinced that Lico Tarin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolando Noboa was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Ronny Engström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lico Tarin in the 65th minute of play. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. ATLETAS FC made a substitution. Justo Valdivia replaced Cordareo Macías. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Ronny Engström in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lico Tarin in the 75th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Lico Tarin came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. ATLETAS FC made a substitution. Eutropio Turienzo replaced Lico Tarin. Kong Chen Xuan made in the 79th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eutropio Turienzo. 81 minutes into the match, Eutropio Turienzo notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 91 minutes into the game, Eutropio Turienzo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Rolando Noboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Peru's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
