In the 14th minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oswaldo Paraíba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute of play. In the 21stth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético-PR's Oswaldo Paraíba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Oswaldo Paraíba quite easily take care of the ball. Oswaldo Paraíba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedrinho Hoffmann's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Perivaldo Sampaio in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dráuzio Barral's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dráuzio Barral helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Atlético-PR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dráuzio Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ren Ang Ming kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 46th minute of play forced Atlético-PR's goalkeeper Oswaldo Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The wind increased when Pedrinho Hoffmann made the kick off in the second half. When Perivaldo Sampaio came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Atlético-PR fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Perivaldo Sampaio couldn't finish the play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedrinho Hoffmann in the 53rd minute of play. Daniel Zorita got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 2-2 in the right cross in the 56th match minute before Oswaldo Paraíba had time to react. In the 94th minute Hong Jian Fan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
