The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Serafin Criston could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denis Karmel in the 21st minute of play. Serafin Criston who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 25 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serafin Criston. Serafin Cristons short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Serafin Criston did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant 26 minutes into the match. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Serafin Criston scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 2-0. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Liu Feng Jing tried to sneak it across the goal line. Serafin Criston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Cresenciano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Serafin Criston made the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Serafin Criston in the 62nd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute, Patricio Costa reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Abel Reyes. The goal made the score 3-1. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Abel Reyes firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 86th minute Serafin Criston shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Abel Reyes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. 93 minutes in the game Malcolm Saunders did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Liu Feng Jing. After having played for 96 minutes, Liu Feng Jing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
