Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Zarco Figueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Federico Estavan might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Federico Estavan ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Federico Estavan in the 30th minute of the match. In the 38th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zarco Figueira was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Daniel Zorita's late challenge caught a Peñaloza's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Zorita helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Chucky Mastropiero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Peñaloza's Chucky Mastropiero got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after Peñaloza's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. 86 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peñaloza the free kick. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 0-6 when Daniel Zorita sped through Peñaloza's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zarco Figueira. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Peñaloza.
