Zarco Figueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 13th minute of play. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Peñaloza's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Simon Oihan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julian Blasi struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 40th minute of play forced Peñaloza's goalkeeper Zarco Figueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 played minutes Peñaloza got a freekick which was hit by Leonides Jaen. Zarco Figueira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. Zarco Figueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. After 53 minutes of play Peñaloza's Leonides Jaen was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simon Oihan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Zarco Figueira. That made the score 0-1 in the 57 minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Zarco Figueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Zarco Figueira in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Simon Oihan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Peñaloza's zone, Agustín Saelices stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zarco Figueira came out of the goal and Agustín Saelices tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zarco Figueira stood somewhat misplaced when Felix Montenegro came free in front of goal and shot 0-2 to the left of him in the 88 minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zarco Figueira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 94 played minutes Peñaloza got a freekick which was hit by Julian Blasi. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Peñaloza.
