Agustín Saelices struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Vladimiro Matai didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredo Curado got free with Julio Vera in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 39th match minute, ADCR Loreto United FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesário Abrantes to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
