Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruud Nistelrooy, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Pipo Inzaghi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacobo Nores. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Primitivo Escribano hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the game, Pipo Inzaghi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Jacobo Nores was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Antonis Nikopolidis made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Hector Covarrubias sent off a good shot on target. In the 37th minute, Ruud Nistelrooy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nea Salamis fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-6. The audience was convinced that Pipo Inzaghi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacobo Nores was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Nea Salamis's Pipo Inzaghi got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 44 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Pipo Inzaghi came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ruud Nistelrooy to strike the kick off in the second half. If Primitivo Escribano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Pipo Inzaghi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jacobo Nores. That made the score 0-7 in the 54 minute of play. Pipo Inzaghi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Jose Sanz in the 58th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Nea Salamis's Cafu Milan. 62 minutes into the match, Nea Salamis's Pipo Inzaghi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacobo Nores narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jose Sanz made in the 66th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Nea Salamis's Everardo Abreu. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pipo Inzaghi in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacobo Nores saved Paraguay from getting behind. Jacobo Nores didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pipo Inzaghi went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-8 was the resulting score. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Nea Salamis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alkibiades Kutras didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 79 minutes, Pipo Inzaghi made it 0-10 with a short kick to the right side. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The throw-in from Jose Sanz in the 82nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Nea Salamis's Everardo Abreu. Jacobo Nores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pipo Inzaghi's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Jacobo Nores made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pipo Inzaghi in the 84th minute. After 90 minutes of play, Nea Salamis's Ruud Nistelrooy made it 0-12 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacobo Nores was left in no man's land by his defense there! 0-13 became the score in the 94th minute when Ruud Nistelrooy elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The Nea Salamis supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Nea Salamis would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
