Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Giannis Moustopoulos got the match started through his kick off. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lakis Karkabasis in the 5th minute. After some careless play in the Olympiacos FC defense, Axel Tasis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manolis Lianopoulos. The Olympiacos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manolis Lianopoulos should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Olympiacos FC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Omiros Psomiadis hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manolis Lianopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marinos Varelis kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aaron Alcocer in the 25th minute of play forced Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Manolis Lianopoulos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manolis Lianopoulos came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa. But to his dismay, Eliseo Noboa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Manolis Lianopoulos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Olympiacos FC's Lakis Karkabasis got a free kick in the 30th minute. 33 minutes into the game, Lakis Karkabasis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Olympiacos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Olympiacos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lakis Karkabasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. Giannis Moustopoulos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lautaro Puig might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Manolis Lianopoulos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lautaro Puig ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Olympiacos FC's Giannis Moustopoulos got a free kick in the 40th minute. In the 41st minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manolis Lianopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Axel Tasis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manolis Lianopoulos having to make a save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kostas Velidis in the 52nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manolis Lianopoulos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alan Moruga in the 59th minute of play. Vaggelis Manousakis lost his temper 59 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 59th minute of the game. One of Olympiacos FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Costa Rica:s goal. In the 66th minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manolis Lianopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manolis Lianopoulos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Tasis, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Noboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manolis Lianopoulos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manolis Lianopoulos having to interfere. Olympiacos FC's Manolis Lianopoulos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 81st minute of play. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 88 minutes into the game, Hugo Ferrant threw the ball into play from the sideline. Olympiacos FC's Marinos Varelis quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 89 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Lakis Karkabasis came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manolis Lianopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costa Rica's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
