With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Escobar in the 69th minute of the match. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Humberto Escobar came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita's late challenge caught a ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Zorita helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute of the match Giancarlo Mora sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
