Nisio Soldevila made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Gardel's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Club Gardel's Nisio Soldevila played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 28th minute of play. 29 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Nisio Soldevila was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Agustín Saelices came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Nisio Soldevila tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Nisio Soldevila. Club Gardel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tytus Damazki to make the kick off. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Nisio Soldevila made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute. The audience was convinced that Pascual Vasco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Nisio Soldevila stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Club Gardel's Nisio Soldevila proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Club Gardel from getting a goal against them. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Nisio Soldevila tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
