Nisio Soldevila didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nisio Soldevila having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Club Gardel's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nisio Soldevila came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 22 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Tytus Damazki came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Club Gardel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Goyo Lluch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nisio Soldevila showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Julio Vera didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 30th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Nisio Soldevila took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 38 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tytus Damazki recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute, Renato Piñon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nisio Soldevila made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tytus Damazki to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 51st minute, which Nisio Soldevila however easily saved by the left post. Club Gardel's Nisio Soldevila played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 52nd minute of play. Nisio Soldevila took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Nisio Soldevila in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 62 minutes into the match, Club Gardel's goalkeeper Nisio Soldevila had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. In the 64th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. Nisio Soldevila was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Agustín Saelices capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Agustín Saelices really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Nisio Soldevila tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Club Gardel's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Nisio Soldevila reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Club Gardel's Nisio Soldevila got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Nisio Soldevila to make any attempt to save it. In the 89th minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Mario Arripe fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Gardel's protests and gave Mario Arripe a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Club Gardel's Mario Arripe got a free kick in the 91st minute. With a little luck, Club Gardel's Nisio Soldevila got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
