Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. When Makis Dimitrakis fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympiacos FC's protests and gave Makis Dimitrakis a yellow card for diving instead. Makis Dimitrakis hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Konstantinos Loulakis in the 13th minute of play. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timos Kolleris in the 14th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Aaron Alcocer got a free kick in the 17th minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Konstantinos Loulakis in the 19th minute of the match. In the 24th minute Timos Kolleris shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Victoriano Frans made a great header on Olympiacos FC's corner, it was just that Costa Rica's Benito Sanz managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 29th minute, Konstantinos Loulakis made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Hugo Ferrant hit a great ball. Makis Dimitrakis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Axel Tasis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Dimitris Michopoulos made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Makis Dimitrakis in the 37th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timos Kolleris, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Makis Dimitrakis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Olympiacos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Makis Dimitrakis in the 43rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute, Dimosthenis Kakavos made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. When Timos Kolleris came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Olympiacos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Timos Kolleris couldn't finish the play. Timos Kolleris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. 54 minutes into the match, Olympiacos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Dimitris Michopoulos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 56th minute, which inside left pole to 0-7. Juan Rubio hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Timos Kolleris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. In the 71st minute of the match, Timos Kolleris got a very nice opportunity to score, but Benito Sanz was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A hard shot 71 in the game by Timos Kolleris from a close distance when the talented Benito Sanz managed to make a qualified save. Costa Rica's players were relieved. In the 71st minute, Alexander Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Timos Kolleris scored 0-10 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Olympiacos FC's zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dimitris Michopoulos came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aaron Alcocer's late challenge caught a Olympiacos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aaron Alcocer helped the player get up and apologised. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 82 minute of play, and Makis Dimitrakis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Makis Dimitrakis really showed his touch with that goal: 0-11. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Dimitris Michopoulos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimosthenis Kakavos in the 92nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olympiacos FC played a much better game than Costa Rica and deserved their victory. The Costa Rica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
