The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, S.C.PAULISTA's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Gerrit Cronen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 5th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Gerrit Cronen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 9th minute of the match. After 9 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gerrit Cronen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonidas Orange, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Gerrit Cronen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Felix Montes's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Leonidas Orange tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play forced S.C.PAULISTA's goalkeeper Gerrit Cronen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gerrit Cronen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Leonidas Orange sent off a good shot on target. In the 41st minute, Agustín Saelices made a precise shot to the right of Gerrit Cronen. S.C.PAULISTA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from César Eger, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leonidas Orange to make the kick off. Gerrit Cronen made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. S.C.PAULISTA's Gerrit Cronen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save S.C.PAULISTA from getting a goal against them. Gerrit Cronen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 77th minute. In the 78th match minute, S.C.PAULISTA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Douglas Meriti to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gerrit Cronen. That made the score 0-4 after 80 minutes of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Gerrit Cronen made a huge save. 87 minutes into the match, César Eger had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that César Eger was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from César Eger in the 89th minute of the match. In the 91st minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-5. The S.C.PAULISTA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
