An unexpectedly hard shot by Hans Håkansson in the 30th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sneaky sneeks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henry Holm didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Lindsten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Cristian Sancho got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Martin Lindsten quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Martin Lindsten tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 55 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 57th minute, Sneaky sneeks's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Cristian Sancho fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 60 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Hans Håkansson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Martin Lindsten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. If Hans Håkansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Martin Lindsten having to make a save. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hans Håkansson's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Martin Lindsten took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 81 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Martin Lindsten made a huge save. Martin Lindsten made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 88th minute, Felix Montenegro fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Martin Lindsten, passed just outside the right post. Primitivo Andino made in the 91st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Cristian Sancho immediately put the ball in play. Hans Håkansson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Holm in the 95th minute of play. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
