In the 7th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Camilo Salvidor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Gaston Firmo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dante Lacasa was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Camilo Salvidor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. In the 15th minute, Roberto Carlo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Dante Lacasa. The goal made the score 1-0. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Camilo Salvidor having to interfere. In the 23rd match minute, Menchu FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Cordaryal to maneuver through the defense. Camilo Salvidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Felix Luque got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 31st minute, Alberto Tafalla left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Gabriele Batistuta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Uriel Gorri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Lautaro Mancebo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. 64 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Uriel Gorri came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Menchu FC's goalkeeper Camilo Salvidor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Menchu FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. After 69 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Facundo Cadaval. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abdoulay Doucouré in the 78th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Camilo Salvidor in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriele Batistuta, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Mexico's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
