Jose Correa charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jose Correa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Western Springs FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 11 minutes Western Springs FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Venezuela's Tomas Illescas to fire away a dangerous shot which Hal Mackey despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Salvador Gisbert who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Hal Mackey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Joshua Secada in the 12thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hal Mackey, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Emmanuel Corley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Western Springs FC's Lionel Egan got a free kick in the 17th minute. Garrett Brock scored 0-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Emmanuel Corley might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emmanuel Corley ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Joshua Secada hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the match, Emmanuel Corley had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emmanuel Corley was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Garrett Brock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kerry McDonald got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frankie Russell in the 60th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Emmanuel Corley took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Jonathan Ferrant to make any attempt to save it. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Kerry McDonald tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kerry McDonald could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. 83 minutes into the game, Colby Saucedo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Western Springs FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. Colby Saucedo kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Western Springs FC played a much better game than Venezuela and deserved their victory. The Venezuela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
