Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Venezuela's corner Joshua Secada fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Luisito Salvino quite easily take care of the ball. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darman Ardiansyah got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Honorato Gotzon took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jacobo Pacho in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 31 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Jacobo Pacho came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Japy Man's Jacobo Pacho got a free kick in the 34th minute. Artemio Marcones made in the 36th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Darman Ardiansyah however managed to control. 44 minutes into the match, Jacobo Pacho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jacobo Pacho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Darman Ardiansyah to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Japy Man's Artemio Marcones got a free kick in the 54th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Patricio Costa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Luisito Salvino. That made the score 3-1 in the 55 minute of play. Luisito Salvino acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 85th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Tomas Illescas.
