The supporters of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sainz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 23 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Ye Hong Shi. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Francisco Seco to make the kick off. Enrique de Mendonça could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Joaquin Gayoso made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's 余永川 slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joaquin Gayoso. That made the score 1-4 after 62 minutes of play. Arthur Bufi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 64th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Camilo Franco in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arthur Bufi saved Cruzeiro Esporte Clube from getting behind. After having played for 71 minutes, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 76 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Gualter Meirelles. Valeriu Toacsen made in the 79th minute of the game a quick throw-in and 余永川 immediately put the ball in play. In the 86th minute Gwidon Cwojdak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute, Gwidon Cwojdak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Jaime Cazalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When 余永川 came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 余永川 couldn't finish the play. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Uruguay's much stronger midfield.
