The audience thought a goal was coming when Iwan Kasiewski got free with Rolando Noboa in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 20 minutes into the match, FC Kurdistan's Iwan Kasiewski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lars Sundström was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Peru players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for FC Kurdistan.
