Patrick Netto took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 34th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Epeios Letsos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. When Lynkeus Plevritis came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the REAL MADRID FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lynkeus Plevritis couldn't finish the play. The supporters of REAL MADRID FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Washington Peixoto in the 84th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, REAL MADRID FC's goalkeeper Krzysztof Adamski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. In the 93rd match minute, REAL MADRID FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simeon Papageorge to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
