Hector Covarrubias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Paulão Corrêa made a huge save. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Sidnei Branco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Sidnei Branco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Lakers FC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Percival Magalhães hit a great ball. Jaime Pardo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulão Corrêa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. 41 minutes into the match, Lakers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Paulão Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 43rd minute of play forced Lakers FC's goalkeeper Paulão Corrêa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Lakers FC's goalkeeper Paulão Corrêa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jaime Pardo.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Pardo was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Percival Magalhães during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Paraguay made a substitution. Marco Romero replaced Primitivo Escribano. In the 60th match minute, Lakers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percival Magalhães to maneuver through the defense. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 70th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Lakers FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 72nd minute of play forced Lakers FC's goalkeeper Paulão Corrêa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jaime Pardo in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Paulão Corrêa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 75 played minutes, Paraguay's Marco Romero shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Paulão Corrêa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Paraguay reached it. In the 76th minute, Hector Covarrubias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clóvis Velloso kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. In the 79th minute of the match Marco Romero sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulão Corrêa skillfully saved the ball. In the 85th minute, Clóvis Velloso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lakers FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Paraguay had controlled the match.
