With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Diego Belém tried to sneak it across the goal line. 俞冰帆 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diego Belém in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcos Cotilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Albirex Niigata FC fans' excitement grew in the 14th match minute when Albirex Niigata FC's Diego Belém looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Diego Belém's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcos Cotilla read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Diego Belém's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marcos Cotilla firmly grabbed it by the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Diego Belém to strike the kick off in the second half. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Belém, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Amir Pieng fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Albirex Niigata FC's protests and gave Amir Pieng a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Albirex Niigata FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Amir Pieng hit a great ball. 俞冰帆 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diego Belém in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcos Cotilla saved Panama from getting behind. Diego Belém fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Cotilla having to interfere. The throw-in from Jose Carita in the 86th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Albirex Niigata FC's Per Gross. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Belém in the 90th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. There was no doubt that Albirex Niigata FC were the better team. Albirex Niigata FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
