After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Agustín Saelices fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Diguinho Toledo quite easily take care of the ball. Dínamo São Paulo's Diguinho Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play. Diguinho Toledo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 49th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Diguinho Toledo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1.
