The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Moises Fernandino took the kick off in the first half of the match. 5 minutes into the game, Luis Rubio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Salvador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stockholm IF the free kick. 6 minutes into the game, Stockholm IF's Mattias Svan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ricardo Zorita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mattias Svan, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Kurt Holmgren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kurt Holmgren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Mattias Svan succeeded in the game's 16th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Rudolf Jonsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Rudolf Jonsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 20th minute Mattias Svan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Stockholm IF's Kurt Holmgren. But to his dismay, Kurt Holmgren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Mattias Svan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Stockholm IF booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lorenzo Yepes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by El Salvador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Krzysztof Bobrowski was slow to take the kick. During this time Stockholm IF's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Mattias Svan heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Disappointed in the 0-8 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 62nd play minute Kristoffer Bjurström came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ricardo Zorita. 0-11. Ricardo Zorita made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kristoffer Bjurström in the 67th minute. 68 minutes into the game, Mattias Svan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ricardo Zorita. Mattias Svan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-12. After 72 minutes of play, Stockholm IF's Mattias Svan made it 0-13 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricardo Zorita was left in no man's land by his defense there! 75 minutes into the match, Kristoffer Bjurström notched a goal, 0-14, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 79th minute, Rudolf Jonsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Zorita was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-15. 86 minutes into the match, Mattias Svan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ricardo Zorita, 0-16. After 94 minutes, Abram Luque mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Salvador and the Stockholm IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stockholm IF played a much better game than El Salvador and deserved their victory. The El Salvador players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
