In the 24th minute Sonny Perkins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sonny Perkins in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Moncho Almonte was slow to take the kick. During this time Quetzal Flyers Hammers's players had a chance to rest. Quetzal Flyers Hammers's Moncho Almonte was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sonny Perkins in the 29th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sonny Perkins got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 36 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Quetzal Flyers Hammers's Francesco Marines. Francesco Marines was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 38th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. 46 minutes into the game, Alex Chicote was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quetzal Flyers Hammers the free kick. After having played for 63 minutes, Sonny Perkins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quetzal Flyers Hammers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sonny Perkins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Guillermo Mariano hit a great ball. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francesco Marines having to interfere. After 70 played minutes Quetzal Flyers Hammers got a freekick which was hit by Mark Noble. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Cote, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sonny Perkins in the 78th minute of the match. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 97 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Guillermo Mariano. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Quetzal Flyers Hammers had played much better football throughout.
