Dunărea Călăraşi's Marian Mustăcilă was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Benito Sanz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Aristide Vuia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marius Radovan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marian Mustăcilă might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marian Mustăcilă ran back to his position shaking his head. The Dunărea Călăraşi players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Costa Rica were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Marian Mustăcilă made the kick off in the second half. Ionuț Roşu's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ionuț Roşu helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Dunărea Călăraşi getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. The audience was convinced that Axel Tasis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marius Radovan was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Ştefan Petru ran back to his position shaking his head. Costa Rica were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Dunărea Călăraşi's much stronger midfield.
