Biagio Rosini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 18th minute Alessandro Munno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Herbert Kapera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play. Armin Pari received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Herbert Kapera came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Biagio Rosini stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Lucky Number Team's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herbert Kapera came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Herbert Kapera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 55 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Lucky Number Team's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. In the 59th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Herbert Kapera. Herbert Kapera yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herbert Kapera having to interfere. Agustín Saelicess short, quick shot in the 67thth minute got Herbert Kapera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 73rd match minute, Lucky Number Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filippo Monticelli to maneuver through the defense. Lucky Number Team's Attilio Orlandi was substituted for Biagio Rosini. Lucky Number Team made a substitution. Emanuele Di Piazza replaced Armin Pari. Lucky Number Team succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
