Bordo Mavi's Aytaç Dilsafa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luca Zorita in the 17th minute of play. After 21 minutes, Mircea Chircu made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Mexico's Dante Lacasa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 25th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aytaç Dilsafa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bekir Zühtü sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aytaç Dilsafa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 31 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aytaç Dilsafa. Bordo Mavi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Mancebo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lautaro Mancebo during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After the first half Mexico were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 51st minute of the match, Alberto Tafalla tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Aytaç Dilsafa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mircea Chircu in the 59th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Bordo Mavi's Aytaç Dilsafa got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Aytaç Dilsafa in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aytaç Dilsafa made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Joel Gaona sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Mexico booed when Bordo Mavi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yahya Kemal Özender didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Aytaç Dilsafa made a huge save. Mexico's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
