Tiaguinho da Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 9th minute of play. The corner led Ecuador's Luis Andino to fire away a dangerous shot which Tiaguinho da Cunha despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Tiaguinho da Cunha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Cristian Sancho sped through Xapetuba Futebol Clube's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tiaguinho da Cunha. After having played for 27 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiaguinho da Cunha having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Jacinto Paraíba kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 1-1 in the 32 minute of play. In the 35th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiaguinho da Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Jacinto Paraíba tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tiaguinho da Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jacinto Paraíba went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Tiaguinho da Cunha made a huge save. After 60 minutes, Felix Montes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Xapetuba Futebol Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Xapetuba Futebol Clube booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Xapetuba Futebol Clube made a substitution. Patrick Neiva replaced Jacinto Paraíba. In the 63rd minute of the match Danilo Dionísio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Xapetuba Futebol Clube were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Danilo Dionísio took the corner. Tiaguinho da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. After a rather tough play, Xapetuba Futebol Clube's Marcelo Coutinho got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Neiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
