Bai Jian Ao was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 23 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Sverker Hydén came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Abram Sarmiento in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bai Jian Ao prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aaron Buba in the 41st minute of play. After 43 minutes, Văn 吕布 made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The Colombia fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when Colombia's Abram Sarmiento looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Colombia made a substitution. Abram Secada replaced Axel Montenegro.
