Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without İskender Orbey having to interfere. In the 31st minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but İskender Orbey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gürsel Durusoy in the 35th minute of play. İskender Orbey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Mexico's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
