Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Isidoro Beltran started the match with the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorg Pieters got free with Julio Vera in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pepe Santoro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 8th minute of the match. Isidoro Beltran did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Julio Vera 9 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Pepe Santoro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 20th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pepe Santoro. Independiente's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 23rd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Jorg Pieters had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Mateo Mendez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albano Bertol didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Luis Andino to fire away a dangerous shot which Pepe Santoro despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 37thth minute of the game Cristian Sancho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independiente's Pepe Santoro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pepe Santoro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Pepe Santoro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 54th minute of the match. Felix Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Independiente's Napoleon Dropinski couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 56th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ecuador. Independiente's Pepe Santoro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. In the 61st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Independiente's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Juan Sebastián Puig made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Independiente's Pepe Santoro managed to reach the ball for a save. Sören Bengtsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Beltran came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 68 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Mateo Mendez. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 72 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Pepe Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Jorg Pieters's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Felipe Roldan got a free kick in the 78th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isidoro Beltran in the 81st minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorg Pieters in the 88th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Isidoro Beltran got a free kick in the 92nd minute. In the 93rd minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Independiente.
