Baldomiro Txindoki came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. 18 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iulian Pietreanu. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baldomiro Txindoki breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Baldomiro Txindoki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson Arósio came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76th minute Iulian Pietreanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 2-2 when Iulian Pietreanu sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Agustín Saelices in the 83rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Baldomiro Txindoki, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Orçun Yalınalp's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. Baldomiro Txindoki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 88th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orçun Yalınalp in the 93rd minute of play. In the 95th minute of the match FC UNIREA Alba Iulia got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Petrică Cândreanu ran over to the corner to take the kick.
