Lorenzo Cazalla hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lorenzo Cazalla in the 31st minute of play forced Atlético Nacional's goalkeeper Teodoro Peio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vicente Sasoin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Dante Lacasa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Baldomero Rodas showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 37 minute of play. Dante Lacasa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vicente Sasoin went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Teodoro Peio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 47th minute of the match. In the 48th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Teodoro Peio quite easily take care of the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Mexico booed when Atlético Nacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafin Theodore didn't get a good kick on the ball. Teodoro Peio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 57th minute of play. In the 58th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. Higinio Ofelio made in the 62nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Mexico's Felix Luque. 63 minutes into the match, Atlético Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Teodoro Peio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Primitivo Mendez in the 66th minute of play. 68 minutes into the game, Luca Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Teodoro Peio. Luca Zorita showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. With a little luck, Atlético Nacional's Teodoro Peio got control of the ball when Facundo Cadaval tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 77th minute of the match, Joel Gaona tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Teodoro Peio saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Atlético Nacional's Teodoro Peio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Nacional from getting a goal against them. Teodoro Peio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Facundo Cadaval in the 83rd minute of the match. 86 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Alberto Azevedo came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luca Rouco kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. In the 94th match minute, Atlético Nacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafin Theodore to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Facundo Cadaval got a free kick in the 96th minute. Despite being the better team, Mexico failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
