Nate Mills lost his temper 35 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 35th minute, one of Canada:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Canada. Jax Williamson had in the 37thth minute some difficulties stopping Gabi Martinelli's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Raimo Ülend made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luka Harris in the 42nd minute. Carter George sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nicolae Dobrin kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Raimo Ülend took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rohan Watson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Agostinho Negri to make the kick off. In the 91st minute of the game Niculae Biriș made a throw-in which Ivar Lilleeng played forward.
