With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when Graneros's Victorino Tallia fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Feliberto Otsando, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Graneros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Siro Sagrario didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 18 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Feliberto Otsando made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victorino Tallia in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. 53 minutes into the match, Victorino Tallia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Victorino Tallia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. The Graneros fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when Graneros's Victorino Tallia looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Attilio Perna when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 72 minutes Graneros's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. Tomas Illescas made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that Graneros's Attilio Perna managed to reach the ball for a save. 72 minutes into the game, Salvador Gisbert lined in a short shot 3-2 behind a frustrated Attilio Perna.
