In the 15thth minute of the game Zhou Xiang Li who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zhou Xiang Li in the 16th minute of the match. The supporters of ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zhou Xiang Li was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's René Higuita proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm from getting a goal against them. 45 minutes into the match, ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm's Thoralf Banke sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 57th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thoralf Banke in the 58th minute of play. René Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 62nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 66th minute. René Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute Pan Jing Qi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kornél Majoros helped the player get up and apologised. In the 89th minute, Kornél Majoros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zhou Xiang Li came free with the goalkeeper in the 92nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. In the 94th minute, Pan Jing Qi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thoralf Banke blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. ᗩɦmeɗo ᎥᏦᎥ Göȥüm were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Ecuador's much stronger midfield.
