Joel Gaona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cassiano Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, GD Fiães's Dante Lacasa threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tobias Brites, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After the first half Mexico were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Telmo Teves to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobias Brites in the 61st minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Cassiano Mendonça made a huge save. Cassiano Mendonça was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Alberto Tafalla capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Alberto Tafalla really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. GD Fiães's Alex Ibáñez was substituted for Telmo Teves. In the 70th minute, Tobias Brites hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Tobias Brites fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GD Fiães's protests and gave Tobias Brites a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Mexico booed when GD Fiães was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tobias Brites didn't get a good kick on the ball. GD Fiães's Cassiano Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 75th minute of play. Facundo Cadaval hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. GD Fiães's Higino Alcântara was substituted for Severiano Calado. In the 78th minute, Facundo Cadaval hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 83 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of GD Fiães's Cassiano Mendonça. Cassiano Mendonça was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amável Quental in the 86th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 88 minutes, Cassiano Mendonça successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Luca Rouco charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luca Rouco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by GD Fiães's Amável Quental. But to his dismay, Amável Quental quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. GD Fiães's Delyan Temelyotev was substituted for Rubim Falcão. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 96th minute of play forced GD Fiães's goalkeeper Cassiano Mendonça to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
