Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryan Reynolds in the 5th minute of play. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind San Marino Thm's goalkeeper Zilar Presedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 13 minutes had been played when some careless play by San Marino Thm's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 21 played minutes San Marino Thm got a freekick which was hit by Gizon Urive. After some careless play in the San Marino Thm defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zilar Presedo. The San Marino Thm fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zilar Presedo should have stopped the shot. 32 minutes into the game, Patricio Costa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Zilar Presedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jader Duran in the 37th minute of play. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 41 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jader Duran was slow to take the kick. During this time San Marino Thm's players had a chance to rest. 47 minutes into the game, San Marino Thm's Jader Duran nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After the first half Venezuela were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jader Duran to strike the kick off in the second half. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zilar Presedo having to interfere. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Zilar Presedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. When San Marino Thm's Jader Duran in 57 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Jonathan Ferrant guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. The supporters of Venezuela booed when San Marino Thm was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. James Rodriguez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jader Duran, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. The audience was convinced that Jader Duran's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jader Duran in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zilar Presedo having to interfere. A throw-in in the 93rd minute of the game was made by Petrigai Campillo with James Rodriguez as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After 94 played minutes San Marino Thm got a freekick which was hit by Petrigai Campillo. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Venezuela eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
