Trabzonspor's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Alejo Otsando in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 21stth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Trabzonspor's Yunus Civan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Yunus Civan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alejo Otsando's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Ivo Waard hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. 32 minutes in the game Primitivo Andino did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Agustín Saelices. Yunus Civan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 34 minutes, Alejo Otsando managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Trabzonspor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alejo Otsando was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Trabzonspor's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Yunus Civan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 65th minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Trabzonspor:s goal. Alejo Otsando shot the penalty kick right outside the post. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 72nd minute, Raşit Timuroz made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Yunus Civan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raşit Timuroz in the 87th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raşit Timuroz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. In the 89th minute Raşit Timuroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
